Obituary for John H. Acker

John H.  Acker
Jack, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away suddenly at his home on March 14, 2017.

Born November 28, 1953 in Painesville, Jack was the eldest of five children. He graduated from Riverside High School where he enjoyed sports and the outdoors.

Jack was a lifelong member of St. James Episcopal Church, serving as a sexton for many years. He was an avid hunter, who loved nature and working on his dad’s cabin.

Employed by The Lubrizol Corporation in Painesville Township, he also served on the Painesville Township Fire Department before his retirement.

Survived by his loving wife and best friend, Lisa (nee: Todd) (Benford); children, Michelle (Pat) Lynch, Keith (Tami) Acker, Christy Benford , Bryan (Poncey) Benford and Brad (Jessica) Benford; grandchildren, Alison, Hailey, Jarrett and Mandy; brother, Jeff (Jennifer) Acker and sisters, Chris (George) Gresham, Sharon (Marc) Layden and Judy (Bill) Welch. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, dear friends and his faithful companions Lacey and Rosie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rocelia Acker.

Memorial services for Mr. Jack, of Willoughby Hills, will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at St. James Episcopal Church, 131 N. State Street, Painesville. The Rev. Vanessa E.B. Clark, Rector of St. James Episcopal Church, will officiate at the service.
